The Republican Party officially nominated Donald Trump to run again for president on Monday. The former president, in turn, chose Ohio US Senator JD Vance as his vice presidential running mate.
Vance is a venture capitalist turned politician who holds a substantial amount of Bitcoin. According to his latest federal financial disclosure, he owns between $100,001 and $250,000 in BTC.
The Ohio Senator revealed that he held those coins on crypto exchange Coinbase. The aforementioned details are based on his Annual Report that was filed in October 2023 chalking out his holdings for the calendar year 2022. He is yet to file his disclosures for 2023.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform,
"As Vice President, J.D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our Troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN."
Trump is due to formally accept the party's nomination in a prime-time speech on Thursday. He will challenge Democratic contender and current president Joe Biden in the upcoming elections.
The crypto community has time and again called out Biden’s regulation by enforcement approach. Retrospectively, they are more aligned with Trump and his crypto missions.
Recently, crypto exchange Kraken’s Co-founder Jesse Powell personally donated $1 million to the Republican presidential candidate. Gemini’s Winklevoss twins also donated around $1 million each to Trump’s campaign.
Trump has assured that his government will stop crypto-centric companies from fleeing out of the country. Alongside, he is also looking to foster Bitcoin mining in the country.
Despite a recent assassination attempt, the presidential contender is eagerly looking forward to addressing the audience at the Bitcoin conference scheduled to take place in Nashville later this month.
