Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the leadership change at the Ethereum Foundation.
Background
- As blocmates reported recently, the Ethereum Foundation is in the midst of a leadership shuffle
- This restructuring has been underway for almost a year
- While some updates are already public information, others are still in progress
Why should you pay attention?
- Buterin went on to call all the attempted scapegoat attacks against Aya "pure evil"
- He emphasized, “The person deciding the new EF leadership team is me”
- Further elaborating, he said that one of the goals of the ongoing reform is to give the EF a "proper board”
- However, until that happens Buterin will be in charge of the reigns
Who said what?
- Buterin said,
“If you "keep the pressure on", then you are creating an environment that is actively toxic to top talent. Some of Ethereum's best devs have been messaging me recently, expressing their disgust with the social media environment that people like you are creating. YOU ARE MAKING MY JOB HARDER”
- He added,
"You are decreasing the chance I have any interest whatsoever in doing "what you want"
- However, not all community members seem to be on the same page as Buterin
Zooming out
- Reverting to the non-decentralization call-outs, Buterin emphasized that the future of the world computer is decentralized and EF is “only one part” of the world computer
- In another parallel development, the Ethereum Foundation has allocated 50,000 ETH to foster DeFi participation
