Carole House is getting back to the White House as an advisor for cybersecurity and critical infrastructure policy. Notably, she was one of the chief authors who came up with President Joe Biden’s 2022 executive order on digital assets that called for the coordination and consolidation of various agencies within an allied national policy.

Via a recent post on LinkedIn, she affirmed,

“Honored to have been called to return to service of absolutely critical mission sets that are necessary to shape the future of secure and trustworthy digital economies; excited to be driving some incredible efforts in service of this nation's security and competitiveness with the amazing interagency.”

House continues to serve as an Advisory Board Member of the Digital Dollar project, and chairs the CFTC’s Technology Advisory Committee.

With respect to crypto, House has time and again underlined the importance of tightening the regulatory screws.

While discussing the illicit financial risks associated with crypto assets and how agencies should approach crypto regulation at Consensus 2024, House asserted that crypto needs “more regulation.”

She also pointed out that hackers have been constantly targeting the crypto ecosystem and taking advantage of the poor security of DeFi protocols. Pig butchering and other similar scams continue to be pain points.

House acknowledged that crypto adoption with respect to good economic cases is happening internationally. However, this licit use growth is also presenting vulnerabilities and opportunities to the illicit actors. She added,

“It just requires that we make significant movements on things like compliance.”

The Biden administration is yet to soften its stance on crypto. However, it is reportedly looking to accept crypto donations. People in the president's ‘outer inner circle’ have been advising him that if he continues to be quiet about crypto and does not get up to speed, he could lose the election.

The talks, however, have been labeled as “exploratory.”
