Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, has introduced its second crypto smartphone, the Solana Seeker. Set to launch in mid-2025, the device has already garnered substantial attention, with more than 140,000 pre-orders despite only recently emerging from its stealth phase.
The "Chapter Two" successor to the Saga saw a surge in demand back in April when two cat-themed memecoin airdrops that came with the phone briefly covered its cost.
In a series of posts on the social media platform X, Solana Mobile provided an in-depth look at the new device. They described Seeker as a “definitive web3 mobile device,” designed to harmonize hardware and software.
Featuring a lighter body, brighter screen, improved camera, and longer battery life, Seeker offers a more accessible price point. At its core is the Seed Vault, which is designed to ensure “top-tier security” for users.
Seeker’s Features and Integrations
A key feature of the Solana Seeker is its integration with the Seed Vault Wallet, developed in partnership with Solfare (the Solana Wallet). This mobile-first wallet utilizes the Seed Vault for self-custody, enabling users to send transactions with a double tap and experience a “streamlined” user interface, according to the post.
The Solana Mobile dApp Store has also been updated, allowing users to track all their rewards in one place. With zero fees and crypto-friendly policies, the store aims to be a hub for Web3 experiences, including exclusive content for Seeker users.
Each Solana Seeker comes with a soulbound Seeker Genesis Token, which serves as a VIP pass to rewards, access, and content within the Solana ecosystem. For developers, this token ensures they connect with genuine Solana community members, enhancing the platform’s appeal for dApps, DeFi projects, games, and more.
Solana Mobile also emphasizes the diverse experiences that Seeker will enable, including DeFi, decentralized infrastructure (DePIN), payments, games, and NFTs. For instance, the device is set to work with DePIN apps like Helium Mobile, offering users four months of free coverage and unique network mapping opportunities.
Looking Beyond the Horizon
One of the standout features of Seeker is its integration with Althea AI, allowing users to generate tokenized AI agents that can interact on-chain with programs and the Solana community.
This opens new possibilities for engagement and earning within the ecosystem. Gamers will also benefit from Seeker, with access to a range of Web3 games and exclusive assets in the upcoming Colony launch on the dApp Store.
Furthermore, Solana Mobile is collaborating with Helius to introduce Airship, a ZK-compression tool that makes airdrops significantly cheaper. This tool enables the cost of airdrops to the Solana Mobile preorder community to be reduced from $40,000 to just $100.
To celebrate the launch, Solana Mobile announced that it is offering a special $450 Founder Window pricing for Seeker until the end of Breakpoint on September 21.
As suggested by the series of uploaded posts on X, the company views the development of Solana Mobile as a community-driven effort, with the Solana Seeker’s debut marking a new chapter in this journey.
