Anthony Scaramucci and a group of crypto advocates are working with Democratic presidential election contender Kamala Harris to develop her campaign’s policies on digital assets.
Details
- Harris has been “hearing out” crypto proponents
- Scaramucci and others are making her steer toward industry-friendly policies
- In fact, Harris has some of "these talks" lined up for this week
- Her campaign staff have previously also met with prominent crypto firms, including Coinbase and Ripple
- Alongside, Brian Nelson, a senior advisor for the Harris campaign, asserted at a recent event that Harris would support the growth of emerging technologies
Why should you pay attention?
- Harris has not yet publicly spoken about crypto herself, but having advocates work on policies could help change that connotation
- Scaramucci and other crypto insiders are looking to “prevent” crypto policies from becoming a partisan issue
- He asserted that the Democrats want the US to have a “bipartisan standard unstrained from political and tribal conflicts”
Who said what?
- At TOKEN2049 Singapore, the founder and managing partner of SkyBridge Capital revealed,
“There’s a group of crypto advocates, Bitcoin advocates, etc. that are working alongside her to distance the Democratic Party away from Elizabeth Warren and [Gary Gensler].”
- He added,
“I believe that we are making progress, and I think it’s going in the right direction.”
Zooming out
- Trump has been trying to earn the votes of the crypto community by vowing to embrace this novel asset class and its underlying blockchain technology
- All his recent actions — including the launch of World Liberty to purchasing burgers via BTC — have been steps in this direction
- Now, if pro-policies are adopted by Harris’ camp then she could potentially stand a chance to garner appeal amongst members of the crypto community and challenge Trump on the this front
