Pump.fun was in the news last week owing to a $2 million exploit. The hacker, an ex-employee, used his privileged position to compromise the protocol’s internal systems. Now, he has claimed on X [formerly Twitter] that he was taken into custody for a night in the United Kingdom and then subsequently bailed for free on mental health grounds.
Via a recent post, 'Stacc' revealed that his real name was Jarett Dunn. Posting from another account associated to him, he affirmed,
“I spent overnight in custody as the pump team alleges I stole 2m of their ill gotten gains with conspiracy to steal another 80m. Released on bail and mental health sectioned.”
Dunn is said to be at the hospital right now. His second X account’s bio states, "this account is signed in on super restricted hospital iPad. I cannot sign out.” He is required not to communicate with certain people and is also barred from going to places associated with Pump.fun. In a message to ‘The Rollup,’ the exploiter further revealed that he has not yet been interviewed by the CID, and ought to return to the police by mid-August.
In fact, the exploiter has also asked U.K. citizens to file charges against a local company that was an entity of Pump.fun. Several concerned users asked him to stop posting on X and get a lawyer. After initially dodging it off with a “Meh,” Dunn stated,
“Thank you for your concern. The embassy has emailed my family a list of lawyers but I am not able to communicate with them til I get my devices. Regardless I refuse to let the system or the big scary bad wolf silence me, nor will I in the future."
On the heels of the exploit, Pump.fun temporarily halted trading. However, within the snap of a finger it was back live, with the team claiming that all contracts were safe. To make users whole, Pump.fun revealed that any coin that reached 100% between 15:21-17:00 UTC will go live on Raydium with at least 100% of the liquidity that it previously had. Parallelly, the team also nullified the trading fee for a week.
