LaDoger’s 'Dark' Rituals: Bitcoin Art with a ‘MSTRious’ Twist

September 13, 2024

With lights off and imagination fully unleashed, LaDoger takes shower in total darkness. No distractions. No noise. It’s here, in this meditative state, that visions of Michael Saylor come to him — almost like a calling.

LaDoger, the self-proclaimed “Chief Saylor Portraitist” and MicroStrategy shareholder is an artist with a unique obsession — one that has turned tech tycoon Michael Saylor into an artistic muse.

What kickstarted as a playful hobby has evolved into a creative journey that blends the worlds of Bitcoin, technology, and generative art.

In a freewheeling conversation with blocmates, LaDoger explained the simplicity behind his work. He asserted,

"I like Michael Saylor and I like making art.”

But it’s clear his connection to Saylor runs much deeper. In the age of AI-generated imagery, LaDoger has found his niche by unifying his passion for art and crypto into one defining theme: the Bitcoin Monomyth.

Truth, he believes, can be projected infinitely — and for him, Saylor is the perfect symbol of this truth.

The Genesis

LaDoger started creating generative art in 2022, around the time Stable Diffusion 1.4 was released. It quickly became a passion.

He’s since produced over 30,000 images — many unseen by the masses — tirelessly honing his craft.

The first image he created was “a bear with bull horns” and soon transitioned into the “anime girl” phase. He then experimented with fusion art, before pivoting into BTC-related work.

For the past two years, he’s focused his attention on one subject: Michael Saylor. He said,

"I chose Saylor because he represents Bitcoin to me. There’s no second-best subject."

Using advanced tools like Flux, he crafts his visions into reality. His workflow may seem technical, but his inspiration ain’t. He revealed,

"Most of my ideas emerge when I take a shower in pitch black darkness. I turn off all the lights and feel my way through the bathroom and find the right soap and shampoo. Visions of Michael Saylor just appear in front of me, and I try to recreate them later on."

From there, it’s a matter of using text prompts to direct the AI to bring his ideas to life. Simple portraits take him about 20 minutes, but more complex works — like Saylor in an office with orange-tinted windows—took him 4 hours and more than 300 tries!

In LaDoger’s words,

“AI makes everything abundant. The only true Scarcity is Bitcoin. Making Bitcoin art is how one stays relevant. Michael Saylor is merely the embodiment of Bitcoin in portrait art.”

Yet, for all his devotion, LaDoger remains humble. His portraits aren’t meant to be kept behind locked doors or sold at high prices. Instead, they’re memes — free to be shared, spread, and remixed by anyone. He revealed,

"A lot of people are making derivative works from my Saylor portraits, and I love that.”

All In: LaDoger is “YOLOing” into MSTR, BTC Since 2021

While others chase fame or fortune, LaDoger has a different goal.

His hobby, as he calls it, is about making cool portraits — and if those portraits help raise the price of MicroStrategy’s stock, so be it. After all, he’s put his money where his art is.

The artist added,

“I have Bitcoin and I YOLO’d all my money in my brokerage account into MicroStrategy stocks since 2021. I think MSTR is the Berkshire Hathaway of the 21st century.”

He feels Bitcoin and MicroStrategy are the only assets worth paying attention to. “Everything else is dilutive.”

When asked about the future, his vision is as clear as it could get. He said,

"I believe MicroStrategy will blast through all obstacles. A $1 trillion market cap is programmed. The only question is if we’ll hit $10 trillion by 2045."

It’s bold. But then again, LaDoger isn’t afraid to dream big.

At the moment, MSTR is valued at around $26 billion, with each share exchanging hands at $134. The price has registered a ~300% appreciation over the past year.

Blessed by Saylor

His journey isn’t over, and neither is his connection with Saylor. What started as memes took a turn when the man himself began retweeting LaDoger’s art, using it in his own social media posts.

LaDoger admitted,

"Reality is often stranger than fiction.”

For now, LaDoger continues to create alone, drawing inspiration from the dark silence of his bathroom and the high-octane world of Bitcoin.

His mission is simple: keep making art, keep sharing it, and stay true to the one thing that matters — Bitcoin.

In a world full of noise, LaDoger has found clarity. His art is a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful messages come from the simplest places.

As for his real name, he prefers to stay pseudonymous.

"I’m just an art account on X. LaDoger is all you need to know," he says.

Because in the end, it’s not about him. It’s about the art, the message, and the crypto revolution he believes is coming. And that, more than anything, is what makes his work stand out.
