Bitcoin payments app Strike has expanded to the UK, enabling native users and businesses to use its suite of Bitcoin and lightning services. With the latest launch, Strike is now available to users in over 100 countries and territories worldwide, including the US, Europe, Latin America, and Africa.

UK users can now buy, sell, and transfer BTC globally. Alongside, they can also engage in bank transfers, set recurring purchases, and initiate self-custody withdrawals.

However, before gaining access to Strike’s services, they ought to pass an "appropriateness assessment" quiz about Bitcoin, which is a prerequisite according to local laws. The app also chalks out customary risk warnings.

Announcing the same, Strike’s founder and CEO Jack Mallers underlined that with a population of 67 million, the UK is the second largest economy in Europe and sixth largest worldwide. In retrospect, this region presents significant opportunities for Bitcoin adoption.

Further elaborating on the latest launch, he added,

“While some Bitcoin companies have retreated from the UK, we are expanding our presence, doubling down on our commitment to further Bitcoin adoption globally, and driving financial innovation and inclusion forward in the UK.”

All Strike users have a lightning address that eases the process of receiving payments when compared to complex lightning invoices. It uses the format of username@strike.me. UK users can receive lightning address payments in BTC or GBP. Likewise, even senders are bestowed with the same choice.

Furthermore, Strike also offers a “white glove” service for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and companies looking to buy and sell hefty amounts of Bitcoin over £100,000 [around $126.8k].

The Strike team affirmed that the latest launch marks another milestone in the company’s quest to make Bitcoin available to “everyone.”
